Dr Dilani Daluwatte
Founder & Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr Dilani Daluwatte was born in Sri Lanka and migrated to Australia during the civil war, an experience that has deeply shaped her understanding of trauma, displacement, and resilience. These early life experiences continue to inform her compassionate, trauma-informed approach to psychiatric care.
She completed her specialist psychiatric training at the Austin Hospital and was awarded Fellowship in 2017. Following this, Dr Daluwatte worked across both the Austin Hospital and Bendigo Health, with a clinical focus on perinatal psychiatry, supporting individuals and families during critical and vulnerable stages of life.
Through her work in regional Victoria, Dr Daluwatte developed a strong commitment to improving access to high-quality mental health care outside metropolitan centres. She is particularly passionate about the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including in veterans and first responders, recognising the unique challenges faced by those who have served and by individuals living in regional and rural communities. Her practice prioritises evidence-based, respectful, and culturally informed care, with an emphasis on restoring function, dignity, and quality of life.
In 2022, after falling in love with Bendigo’s strong sense of community and regional character, Dr Daluwatte established a specialist neuromodulation clinic to bring advanced treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to regional Australians. She has undertaken extensive training in TMS, including international certification through Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and holds both Australian and European accreditation in neuromodulation.
Dr Daluwatte has recently relocated to live in Bendigo and is embracing country life. Outside of clinical work, she shares her home with her two cats, Percy and Pearl, and enjoys spending her spare time reading, cooking, and finding balance in a quieter, grounded lifestyle.
